Car Keys

Since 1995 as a response to an E.U. directive manufacturers started fitting immobiliser systems to new vehicles in an attempt to reduce car theft and stop joy riding.

These systems work by means of a transponder chip fitted into the head of the key. When the key is inserted into the ignition of the vehicle a coil around the ignition lock induces a current in the chip which then transmits the coded information it contains through the coil to the E.C.U. on the car. If the information is correct then the engine will start.

This is a passive system in as much as there are no buttons to press, it all happens automatically. Even plain keys with no buttons have chips embedded in the plastic. The central locking buttons on the head of the key are generally nothing to do with the immobiliser system.

The problem now comes when replacement keys are needed it is no longer possible to pop into your nearest key cutter and get a spare key cut.

At Key Machine we have invested heavily in new technology to enable us to supply, cut and programme a wide range of transponder keys. This includes extra keys or new keys if the others are lost.

If you are unfortunate enough to loose your keys then your vehicle will have to be recovered to the nearest main dealer with all the extra time and cost that would be incurred.

We can come to you, on the beach, in a car park, wherever, and in the majority of cases get you mobile again with the minimum amount of fuss or delay.

If you have a car key problem or just need a spare then give us a ring, we are here to help.
